It became known how much the “blue tick” of verification on Twitter costs. The first to know about the price were the users of the App Store, where a subscription to the service appeared, CNBC reports.

“The updates presented in the App Store confirmed that users will be able to purchase Twitter Blue and receive a blue tick for $7.99 per month,” the channel’s website reports.

Now the service is available to users in the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand.

Esther Crawford, director of product management at Twitter, said that the new subscription is not yet available to everyone, but a “small group” may already see the platform update.

“The new Blue is not launched yet, but some people may see that we are doing updates because we are testing and making changes in real time,” she wrote.

The innovation appeared thanks to Elon Musk. He bought Twitter for $44 billion at the end of October.

Earlier, Musk criticized the current system, which puts a blue check mark or confirmation only to well-known users – politicians, journalists, executives and organizations.

He said he plans to give “power to people” by offering Twitter Blue for $8 a month.

The day before, Musk wrote that Twitter Blue will be deployed around the world as soon as it is confirmed that it works in the initial list of countries.

Earlier, a report by The Verge said that Musk is considering charging up to $19.99 per month for a subscription.

Historically, the blue check mark has become a symbol of verification. It lets readers know that the account is genuine. Other social networks and search engines have similar verification systems
