Tasty Recipe with Millets : Try millets in different ways and add them to your diet. If you want to eat good tasty payasam when there are no pujas and punaskaras then you can make it with millets. Same payasam is made with rice, atukulu, semya etc.. can it be made with millets too? Do you have a doubt? But you must definitely try this millets payasam. How do you make delicious payasam with millets that provide many health benefits? Now let’s know what are the required ingredients.
Milk – 1 liter
Water – quarter cup
Ghee – 3 tbsp
Panchadara – half cup
Millets – half cup
Cashews – 2 tbsp
Rains – 2 Tablespoons
Pistachios – 2 Tablespoons
Saffron – Half Teaspoon
Millets should be soaked 3 hours before making payasam. After soaking them well, wash them and keep them aside. Now light the stove, put milk and water in a pressure cooker and let it boil for 20 minutes. After that, let it cool down and wait till the pressure goes away. Boiling milk in a cooker will turn the milk slightly pink in color. It naturally gives good color to the payasam. Now remove the lid of the pressure cooker.. take the milk into the kadai.
Once again light the stove.. lower the flame.. let the milk boil. Add two tablespoons of ghee and sugar in it.. keep mixing till it melts. Add the soaked millets to this mixture and cook for 20 minutes. While the millets are cooking, take a small kadai and add ghee in it. When it heats up, add cashews, pistachios and raisins and roast them. While the millets are cooking, add the roasted dry fruits and mix. Add saffron to it and mix well. When the millets are cooked.. the payasam is ready. It can be served hot and pulled. Otherwise, it is good to eat chilled in the fridge.
Millets payasam can be eaten by everyone from children to adults. Children are not very interested in eating millets. So you can introduce them to millets like this. They provide health benefits along with taste. People with diabetes and dieters can also take it but it is better to take it in small doses.
